Do you have a POT?!
I have a quote that I carry with me in my scriptures. It is a quote that has helped me through my own hardships and adversities. It is something that to me is so basic, give thanks "in all things". Basic, but not always easy. The quote is from Dallin H. Oaks, Ensign, May 2003: "When we give thanks in all things, we see hardships and adversities in the context of the purpose of life. We are meant to learn and grow through opposition, through meeting our challenges and through teaching others to do the same. The Lord will not only consecrate our afflictions for our gain, but He will use them to bless the lives of countless others." How thankful I am for the gospel in my life, for a husband who loves the Lord, honors his priesthood and who loves his family. How thankful I am for the trials in my life, the small ones and the HUGE ones. February is not an easy month for me but last week after I read my patriarchal blessing and reread Elder Oaks quote I decided that I would take February one day at a time trying to keep a positive outlook each day. When I told my friend about this a couple of days later she asked me if I had a pot. Hence my title for this post, POT, Positive Outlook Today! Part of that positive outlook is to give thanks in all things, during all things and through all things. To look for the good when it’s the last thing you want to do. Is it working? Kinda :)
